Sketchies!

Some recent sketchbook sketchies-

BRAIN DRAIN!

Sometimes I like to just grab a pad of cheap dollar store drawing paper, an ink pen, a pair of headphones and my mp3 player and just scribble out heads without any pre-thought or motive and see what I come up with. Most of them are crappy ugly drawings, but sometimes you can come up with something interesting, which may lead to a whole new character or painting idea. Ya just never know where the stream of consciousness will take you.

Here's a few I scribbled out of my brain through my pencil last night.

FINGERDIDDLIN'!!

I've been really getting back into just straight ahead graphite drawing again. Something with just a handful of pencils, my fingers all covered in various shades of black and grey from smudging and smearing and working those shades into the paper, and an eraser for highlighting gets me so lost into the artwork. It's like sculpting, but in 2D. It's physical, sexual and stress relieving. LOVE IT!!

Plus, if I ever want to color it, I can just throw it into Photoshop and lay down the colors later.

Well my convention season is done, Halloween is over and it's time to get back to reality. Time to get some commissions and other jobs to get on track for the new year.

FLINT HORROR CON 2013!

Tomorrow is the long awaited FLINT HORROR CON 2013 in Flint,MI. I had a table there last year and loved it,and I have a table there for this year as well! So, please come on down to downtown Flint and GET YOUR HORROR ON!! There's tons of spooky fun to be had!
I will have most of my stuff(paintings, original artwork, prints,sketch cards, postcards, my book PUNCHING A WHOLE IN REALITY WITH A PENCIL and so much more at a sooperdooper reduced price for this event only!!

LET'S GET ZOMBIFIED!!

Tomorrow-Saturday The 5th- in Flint, Michigan, I will be finishing up this artwork during the FLINT ZOMBIE WALK!! I will have a table there, putting the final touches to this artwork- 

and the painting will be up for auction/bid/raffle for the charitable event! So please get yourself zombied up, come on down, check out the vendors and celebrities and be part of the zombie walk. It's gonna be a blast!

EYEBALLIN'!!

Been sooper dooper busy getting things ready for quite a few events I'll be at the next month or so. But, the artwork hasn't stopped,been doing all kinds of work. But lately it seems I've had some unconscious desire to draw up one eyed characters. I didn't even realize I was until I recently scanned a few pieces and found numerous cyclopian critters peering back at me.

This is a piece featuring an obscure Marvel Comics character called The Devil Slayer. The one eyed demon thingy he's facing is a creature of my own invention, whom I call GRON GROOGINONN, and I dig him so much I want to do more with him. Even have a full blown painting in mind which I want to feature him in.



One of them is a whole group of one eyed superheroes, which I call The Eyevengers. They go by the names such as The Red Eye, Pink Eye, Stink Eye,The Hypnotic Eye and Eyeracles. Just yet another concept going on in my head that may someday become a comic book.

      

Then there's a sketch card I did of the one eyed giant from the classic 1957 B-Movie flick THE CYCLOPS!



A mock up cover for STOMPICIDE, a giant monster comic I also want to put together in the near future,featuring some old artwork I did.


And then there is this guy,who technically has more than one eye(he's got eyes on his shoulders and his crotch), but, what the heck. Wanna do more with him in the future too, but here he is telling you that I will be at THE RAILROAD CITY COMIC CON in Durand, MI Sept. 21st and 22nd! So, come on down and get an eyeball full of artwork, paintings, sketch cards and more I will have on sale!
